«In this world which God loves », Sr. Renée Dumais from the Vice-province of Rimouski (Québec, Canada), reveals how she accomplishes this mission.

We truly have to love the young people if we want to help them. Since they are important to me, I have dedicated my life to teaching young children in primary school.

Ever since my early age, my pastime was to teach, imaginary pupils sometimes. My mother was a teacher; I certainly acquired this liking from her. And so I taught young children for about thirty years. I have always loved those wonderful years.

 

I retired in 1997 and my great desire was to become a volunteer with the young children who have learning problems. To prepare for this task, I took time to study and acquire the methods needed to accompany these children. I am working with the Maison de la Famille in Rivière-du-Loup (Québec, Canada) since 1998.

My aim is to make sure that all these children feel loved and valued. They are happy and they feel that they are loved. They realize how I care for them and it is wonderful to see them grow and blossom! The help I give these young children brings both support and understanding to parents and teachers. Therefore I will always be there to assist the young children because they have no voice of their own.

The way Jesus would love is really how we are called to love and take care, to share, to serve this world which God loves so as to build a world where there will be more justice, and to participate in the coming of the new creation. (Cf.: information given at Sept. 2012 meeting).

 

I believe I am attentive to the most vulnerable of these little ones whom God loves.

I am therefore fulfilling this desire of Jesus who said:

« Let the little children come to me».
