Arrival of the Daughters of Jesus at Puerto Mallarino, Cali, Colombia

How did we arrive at Cali?

It was following a process of research and discernment that we began last year. We wanted to transfer the Community that we had in the popular area of San Augustin in the south of Bogota, the capital of Colombia, in order to have a new insertion in a similar area.

The Lord opened the way for us through the basilian fathers who invited us to “come and see”. We went, we saw and we stayed. We arrived on the 27th of July, an historic day for us.

When we arrived we were given a fraternal and supportive welcome from the Basilian Fathers, as well as from the younger brothers and religious sisters : the sisters of Mercy, the Basilian sisters and all of the population. All of them showed us their support in different ways, by unloading the lorry, by organising the house and by being attentive to what we lacked.

This new experience for us, the Daughters of Jesus confirmed once again that the poor send us back to the Gospel.

By this research the Lord has said to us :

« Take your boat, God is calling you to set off for other shores, take your boat and go where the Spirit leads you. »
