Sr Monique Guitton, on mission in Honduras since 1984, but currently on holiday in France, shares with us the beautiful day of her father’s birthday.
On January 29th 2021, I had the great joy of celebrating the 100 years of life of my dear father at the residence for dependant elderly of Kerlaouen in Bréhan, Brittany, where he now lives. This anniversary, unlike the others, brought together a few members of the family even if it was in somewhat reduced numbers because of the current health context.
A well loved father
We were happy to express our love and joy in sharing this special moment with him. In spite of some communication difficulties caused by deafness, he was very present and happy to discover his gifts and to savour the champagne with which we toasted him. We applauded him as he blew out the candles on the cake without any hesitation.
The mayor of the town of Bréhan, as well as the director and the animator of the establishment joined us to congratulate him and to show their particular affection for this man who has lived through a century. Very moved by this, he kept on repeating, « You are spoiling me ! »
A special thank you
I thank the Lord for allowing us to experience this event and also for all that Dad has given to us during these long years of a busy life. I especially give thanks for his goodness and wisdom which have taught me so much. With all my heart, I wish him all the best on the path of life he has yet to travel.
