On Thursday, the 2nd of, the Daughters of Jesus at the Mother House, Kermaria, France celebrated the World Day for Consecrated Life during a Eucharistic celebration.
On Thursday, the 2nd of February, I was with the Sisters of the Mother House of the Daughters of Jesus, at Kermaria, France at the Eucharist to celebrate the World Day for Consecrated Life.
At the beginning of the celebration, the Sisters who were able to do so were invited to join the priest at the back of the chapel with a candle, for a procession of light. The song “Hold in your hands” accompanied us: “The light has entered the world … Hold your lamps alit in your hands, children of God who seek him … All peoples are called to hope … Light of Christ, we bless you.”
Liturgy of the Word
In his homily, the priest invited us to be, “like Simeon, bearers of the Light of Christ. As baptized women, be witnesses, my Sisters, of the hope that dwells in you.”
In communion
The song after communion invited us to be salt of the earth and light for others. We read together a prayer from the diocese of Vannes, France, for religious vocations : “Lord our God, give your Church many and holy religious vocations. You, who are the source of all life, we ask you to call the young people of our diocese to a consecrated life. May they be ready to commit themselves to give their lives in prayer, and to witness in joy to the coming of your Kingdom, through service to their neighbour, fraternity and unity, which you so desire for us.”
A message from Pope Francis
“The Spirit invites us to renew our lives and our communities. He will show us the way. The center of everything is Christ, whom we must welcome as Lord of our lives. Let us ask for the grace to marvel at the wonders that God does in us, hidden like the one in the temple when Simeon and Anna met Jesus. Let us ask for eyes that know how to see the good and perceive the ways of God. Let us put Jesus back at the centre and move forward with joy.” message of Pope Francis, for the day of the consecrated life on February 2, 2022.
This time of celebration was an opportunity to pray for the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus.
