A short summary of how we spent these three days
of the first week of the Chapter.
Wednesday the 13th of July
On this day we listened to the reports from the different entities and to the superior General’s report.
These were the questions that had been put to the leaders of the entities for the preparation and presentation of their review.
The Superior General’s report
Some points addressed in the report of the Superior General:
- One of the missions entrusted to the General Council by the 2016 Chapter was the review of governance structures. Each entity has been engaged in a participatory reflection.
She also highlighted:
- a movement of the Spirit that has strengthened the sense of belonging to a body.
- the opening of the international novitiate in a working-class neighborhood on the outskirts of Paris.
- the link with our brothers and sisters, the Associates, which is intensifying and deepening. The participation of 8 of them (Africa, Latin America, Canada, and France) in the first week of reflection at the Chapter marks an important step in our mutual communion.
Thursday the 14th and Friday the 15th July
How we spent these days
We were invited on each of these days, Daughters of Jesus and Associates, to live a spiritual experience, to listen to the Holy Spirit in the Word of God, and our Rule of Life; using notes given to us by the accompanists, and following the same model that we had already used (Visitation and ecology) in our walk toward the Chapter.
The points which we discussed on Thursday allowed us to take another look at our Charism which, starting from the person of Jesus, invites us to humanize
- our personal lives marked by wounds.
- our relationships in community, and as a family.
- and take care of those whose cries are urgent at our doors and beyond our borders.
The guidance notes on Friday the 15th of July
The guidance notes on Friday 15th invited us to listen to the cries of the earth and of the poor and to discern what challenges are the most urgent for our world today.
