Edmonton, Alberta (Canada), Vice-province Assembly
Around 9:30 on September 19, 2015, fifteen Daughters of Jesus and twelve Associates gathered in the hall of Our Lady of Assumption Parish for the annual fall Assembly for the launching of the year. It is always a joy-filled occasion where we greet one-another during a short snack time.
The Assembly opened at 10:00 with a meaningful procession with gifts of Salt, Light, and Fire placed on a center of beauty, the song ‘We are the Salt of the Earth’ (by Paul Rumbolt). A prayer was then led by our Vice-provincial, Sr. Marlene Tracy.
We all sat around tables being sure that each table had Associates and Sisters. The day on the theme of Salt, Light, and Fire was interspersed with silent personal reflection, small group sharing and large group sharing on assigned texts and scripture.
At noon we broke for a delicious catered lunch.
The life-giving day ended with a few Associates renewing their promises and the sending on Mission of each sister and community and each group of Associates from Calgary and Edmonton. Our reflection for the Provincial Chapter has begun; we will be meeting in groups in the near future to continue and send to the Provincial Council the results according to the questions given.
Sr Elsie Stitsen, d.j. and Sr Georgine Morin, d.j.
