The liturgical time of Advent began last week.
To enter into Advent is to stand in readiness:
If God comes knocking at my door, am I ready to welcome Him?
Advent represents the many centuries during which time the patriarchs, prophets, and all those who loved God longed for the coming of the promised Saviour. “Many prophets and kings desired to see what you see and did not see it, to hear what you hear and did not hear it”.
If for those who have preceded us, Advent was this long time of waiting for the coming of Christ, Advent is for us now a time to prepare ourselves to celebrate with dignity, in freedom and in full awareness the coming of Christ in our lives. It is also a time to wake up if we have been dozing off.
As Associate of the Daughters of Jesus, what gives richness to our lives, what gives flavour to our days, what frees us from unessentials and false values would simply not exist without Jesus.
Lord,
During this time of Advent
I want to prepare myself to welcome you.
Help me to walk in joy and confidence
On the path that leads to you.
Inspire me with gestures of sharing
Of forgiveness and of peace
In order to announce to those around me
The Good News of your coming among us.
Mrs Lisette Dionne, Associate
