During World Mission Week,
from the 13th to the 20th October 2013,
sisters in Africa and in France,
took part in the
animation of parish celebrations
In Daoukro (Ivory Coast)
We were happy that the priests of the Parish helped us to understand the worldwide dimension of this day of prayer and sharing on this missionary Sunday !
- By reading the message sent from Rome to the bishops of the whole world
- By commenting on the Pope’s message for this
- By the placing of a globe of the world at the foot
of the altar by Missionary Children
- By the collection and the distribution of
envelopes for a more responsible engagement in
the Universal Mission
The Christian community in this place were truly made aware! And we the Daughters of Jesus?
Yes, we too, enlarged the tent of our heart to its maximum today, and our prayer, thanks to the hour of adoration on this Sunday evening. The globe was still there! A long spontaneous prayer of intercession, all mixed-up: persecuted Christians, communities without a pastor, missionaries, vocations, all those who have still not heard the Gospel … ! Of course our Daughters of Jesus spread across the 3 continents were PRESENT in all that.
Lord, make us missionaries there where we are !
Community of Daoukro (R. I. C.)
In Rennes (France)
Sr Annette Le Sauze who lived for 20 years in Colombia, and her small team, animated the Mass that opened the week in their parish. She tells us how the parishioners were made aware of the Universal Mission of the Church.
This year’s theme:
« The Gospel for all, I believe in it ! »
Posters with people from the five continents
Two floral barques point towards the altar where the number of diocesan missionaries (114) sent to other continents and outside of France is indicated on a map of the world. Among them a Bishop in Istanbul and the papal Nuncio to Mexico.
A final invitation by the Pontifical Missionary Works to become a “Missionary Watchman”. Mission abroad: yes, but equally: mission here, in many different ways!
