Deep communion with the whole Congregation

The Launching of a New Community Year in the Vice-Province of Moncton (Canada), 29 October 2016.

Our day began with the celebration of the Eucharist with our jubilarian sisters : Nancy Giroir, 75 years of profession; Venetta Roy, 70 years; Irène Amirault, Jeannine Babin and Virginie Poirier, 60 years.

This celebration prepared us to welcome the orientations of the General Chapter presented to us by Jeanne Comeau and Denise Lirette . Right from the beginning we recognized the content of our meetings in preparation for the General Chapter enriched by all that emerged from the Provincial Chapters and the work of the General Chapter itself.

We were especially gratified at one point during our assembly – a surprise was awaiting us, unsuspectedly put together by Colette Gélinas and Margaret Ann Lorway, our experts in electronic communication. Through Skype, we were given the joy to welcome three members of the General Council: Micheline, Colette and Patricia. After a few words from each of them Micheline delighted us with a challenging as well as a very comforting message.assemblee

Jeanne then sent us on mission. In order to help us “become the persons we are meant to be we must go to the spring, to the edges of society, work towards building a Church without boundaries and, of course, take care of our common home”. Jeanne suggested that we pursue our path towards mercy and compassion. To assist us she gave us a prayer that can “revive in us the gift of God”.

groupeJust prior to the evening meal, we enjoyed a moment of relaxation looking at part of a video of the Eucharistic celebration of our 150th anniversary as a Congregation, in October 1983. To observe ourselves 33 years younger!! …to see those from among us that are gone home to the Father… what a surprise! It also brought forth an awareness of our past journey and of our still present vitality as a community group.

This human and spiritual enrichment day came to a close with a prolonged period of prayer and celebration with our jubilee sisters: a poem, hymns, psalms, the Word of God, etc. We then gathered amicably to chat as we enjoyed a wine and cheese.
