Sister Nadège Alarba dj, on mission in Chad, shares with us the beautiful encounter between the Associates of Lai and those of Beauce in France.
On the roads of the Lord
On the 18th of November 2024, eight Associates from Lai travelled to Ndjamena for a meeting with representatives of the Beauce Associates in France, Denise, and Annick. Initially, the Associates from France were supposed to join us in Lai, but this was not possible because of the prevailing insecurity in our province.
Here are the questions and themes that guided our meeting the next day :
How did I become an Associate? What motivated me?
How do I live my Christian life as an Associate in my professional, family and pastoral environment?
What has changed in me since I became an Associate?
What concrete actions can we take together to put people ‘on their feet’ in our environment?
Report by the secretary on the activities carried out by the associates in Chad.
How the collaboration between the Associates in France and Chad came about.
Sharing the experience of the Associates in France
It was an extraordinary time of sharing and a very moving experience of how our charism is lived out by the Associates. This “fire of charity” is lit where we cannot be.
The group is barely a year old. It has 15 members, including a priest from the diocese who provides the Eucharistic celebration at each meeting. This good nucleus of the Associates group is starting to germinate and will continue to do so in our province, given their dynamism and commitment.
Exchange and blessing
During the midday Eucharistic celebration, there was a time for the exchange of symbolic objects and their blessing by the celebrant, which will be used for both groups of Associates. All the names of the Associates and Sister Councillors, absent or present, deceased, sick or in difficulty, were inscribed and placed on the altar for the intention of the Mass.
The meeting ended at 5.30 p.m. with a convivial meal.
