The community of Daughters of Jesus in Bignan, France, share with us what the articles on our website mean to them and how they benefit from them. They also encourage us to contribute to the site !
On the 23rd of October, the Daughters of Jesus website team in France met at the community in Bignan.
There was time to get to know each other better during afternoon tea. At one moment a team member asked us, “Are you interested in what’s written on the web?” and we answered spontaneously with “Yes, certainly!”.
Several of our Sisters use computers, but those who don’t have one have access to information thanks to the collection of texts on paper, which we regularly group in a binder. Each Sister can then consult and return to it as she wishes. Although this practice represents an investment in time and materials, we feel it is an important means of information and communication for everyone.
A great interest
The articles on the Daughters of Jesus website are a way of welcoming and sharing what is happening in France and in the countries where the Sisters work. It is more than that, however; the Associates and friends of the Congregation are also interested. It’s not unusual to hear people say, “I’ve looked at your Congregation website”.
It’s a way, a new path, a means of transmitting the heritage and intuitions of the founders today with the characteristics of each country and each situation in the life of the Church.
Shared joys and pains
We are struck by the testimonies we have received, which tell us how much the Sisters have left their mark on the people where they have lived. Many of the texts reveal the involvement of the Sisters, novices, and Associates in the poorest communities, living out the charism of the Congregation. Shared joys and sorrows open our hearts to a universal dimension that translates into thanksgiving for the Congregation ‘Born of the fire of that love’.
It’s up to us to benefit from the Web, but also to contribute, at our own level, to enriching it. As the philosopher Edgard Morin says, “True novelty is always born of a return to our roots’.
Let’s continue step by step,
following in the footsteps of our founders who,
190 years ago,
began this long journey.
