Sr Annita, a Daughter of Jesus from Dominica, shares her community’s joy at receiving a visit from the Superior General of the Congregation.
A visit to Dominica by the Superior General of the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus, is rare indeed ! This week’s visit of Sr Patricia Guillet was really special and deeply appreciated!
A maiden visit to the Caribbean
On Saturday the 9th of November, Sr Patricia Guillet, the Superior General and General Councillor, Sr Colette Gélinas, touched down to begin a week’s visit to Dominica, the Nature Island of the Caribbean, and Land of the Lord. What excitement and joy to welcome them among us, particularly, Sr. Patricia who was making her maiden visit to the Caribbean and of course, to Dominica, our native land.
Sharing with our special guests
On arrival at the Convent, it was as though the entire Congregation was present, it was a momentous occasion for our small Community of three Sisters – Lucy Alexander, Cordelia Pierre, and Annita Peter. With delight, the Community of Dominica welcomed our special guests and looked forward to sharing with them as much as we could in a brief time.
Each day’s programme gave the Sisters opportunities to visit the lush vegetation of the Nature Isle, our places of mission, projects funded by the Congregation, as well as family members and colleagues. The visit was short but meaningful and empowering. Truly, we were blessed by their presence, sharing, and lived experience.
Sent on mission
To conclude her visit, Sr Patricia sent us on mission to “Honour the Sacred Humanity of the Son of God and be pilgrims of hope”.
Our profound gratitude to both Sr Patricia and Sr Colette. This has certainly been a visit to remember!
