In the context of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Diocese of Rimouski, (www.dioceserimouski.com), we had the joy of welcoming, His Excellency Luigi Bonnazzi, Papal Nuncio to Canada.
150th anniversary of Rimouski Diocese
The event begins with the morning Eucharistic celebration whose theme was: Unity within the Church. Hymns, readings, prayer intentions, Eucharistic prayer help us to focus on the words of St Paul: “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body – Jews or Greeks, slaves or free – and all were made to drink of one Spirit”.
Each day I am learning to be Papal Nuncio
After a break, His Excellency accepts to dialogue with us. To the question, what is your most important mission as Papal Nuncio, he answers: “As far as I am concerned, my mission of evangelization is lived out in what my daily life brings, hour by hour, endeavoring to accept the Will of God. My priority is the human person. Each day I learn to be Papal Nuncio.”
Following this enriching sharing, we enjoy a delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere. Joy is quite evident and His Excellency even teases our assistant chaplain, Noël, with a play on words with his name. Our Archbishop, His Excellency Denis Grondin as well as Jacques, our chaplain, are also present. We end the day by taking pictures that will be a reminder of this great event.
We will remember His Excellency Luigi as a sympathetic man, approachable, simple, having a great sense of humor, a shepherd, in one word, a free-spirited person filled with the God of love that Jesus came to reveal.
