Urgent news concerning our sisters in Dominica

The General council has been in contact with the sisters in the West Indies for several days.

Following the passage of hurricane MARIA … this morning, Tuesday the 19th September 2017, the General council received this brief message by SMS at 08h05 (local time France) from our Sisters of the community of Roseau, Dominica :

« Our roof is gone, windows broken. Flooding upstairs and downstairs. Wet but alive. »

The General council informs you that we will have to be patient before receiving further news. The World Service of the BBC indicates that there is a great deal of devastation and that communications are perturbed, to the point of being non-existent. As and when it is possible further news will be passed on to you by means of the web site.

Maria continues her trajectory across the West Indies. We confide our sisters and the populations touched by it to the Lord.

General council, Paris
