Thanks to community television, the confined Sisters in Canada have been able to overcome the current restrictions and live moments of communion and solidarity.
March 2020 will be long remembered because of the global epidemic COVID-19. At Lokia Residence, in Trois-Rivières, we were able to celebrate upcoming events in spite of the restrictions. We are indeed fortunate to have a community television which allows us to be united while still staying in our respective apartments.
Feast of Saint Joseph
On the afternoon of the feast of Saint Joseph, on March 19th, we were invited to a moment of prayer led by Thérèse Foley. Gisèle Lacerte accompanied the hymns on the guitar, while Nicole Périgny read some texts relating the history of the Congregation on this 200th birthday of Mother Marie de Saint-Charles. It was a time of deep communion for all of us as we listened prayerfully to the celebration on television. What a privilege!
Birthday of Nicole Périgny
Nicole Périgny, our community leader, celebrates her birthday on March 25th. A very meaningful celebration prepared by Jacqueline Cossette for the occasion began with peaceful flute music performed by Thérèse Normand. Angèle Lépine led the songs and Louise Provencher on the accordion accompanied the traditional wishes ‘‘Ma chère Nicole…’’ A beautiful icon of the Angel’s greeting to Mary reminded us that it was also the feast of the Annunciation. All this was virtual but how wonderful to live such a gathering while still being confined to our apartments.
Thanks from Nicole
On March 26th, Nicole got back to us with a beautiful ‘‘Thank You’’ for the special community celebration of her birthday. She ended by saying:
‘‘This humanitarian crisis is difficult for all of us.
We must get back to the essential aspects of our lives
and learn once again what we thought we knew,
how to be more human
and allow ourselves to be transformed by this unique experience.
Let us remain united in solidarity.’’
