Sr Augusta dj, from Vaylats in the south of France, arrived at the Mother House, Kermaria, in May of this year. Her grandniece Karima and great-grandnephew Anthony came to visit her. All three agreed to answer questions about this big move.
Sister Augusta, when did you arrive at Kermaria?
– ‘I arrived at Kermaria on the 25th of May 2025.’

Was it a difficult choice for you?
– ‘The choice wasn’t difficult. I decided it myself and waited for them to tell me the date I would be leaving. I had to prepare myself.’
You thought about it before leaving for Kermaria. What were the most difficult arguments? Leaving your family?
– ‘I talked to my family about it, to find out how they would feel about my departure. And my niece told me to do what I wanted, as long as I was happy.’
What made you decide to come here?
– ‘They told us that there were going to be changes at Vaylats. I could have gone to Villefranche-de-Rouergue, but there were no single rooms available. Because my eyesight is deteriorating, I absolutely needed a room to myself.’
What do you like about Kermaria?
– ‘I like everything. They look after us well, all the Sisters are kind, and everything is fine here. The care assistants and nurses are very attentive.’

Karima, you are Sister Augusta’s grandniece. Is this your first time at Kermaria?
– ‘Yes, it’s my first time.’
How did you react to Sister Augusta’s decision to come to Kermaria?
– ‘At first, I was a little surprised, but then I understood why she wanted to come here. It’s true that she has left the region where she was born and where she had always lived, but everything is going well, and it’s the same community. There was no need to worry.’

Anthony, you are Sister Augusta’s great grandnephew. Is this your first time in Kermaria? What do you think of the place?
– ‘I’m happy to be here and to see that Sister Augusta has settled in well.’
Sister Augusta was very happy to spend time with her family. She will be able to sing to St Joseph with all the Sisters of Kermaria:
‘O Patron Saint of Kermaria,
Deign to accept our songs.
Extend your arm over us,
And bless your children.’
