Relay for Life, organized by the Canadian Cancer Society, is a walk to collect funds for research, but also to support the persons affected by cancer.

In March 2015, our director of health care in the infirmary of the Daughters of Jesus, Mrs. Louise Milette, informed us that she had a recurrence of her cancer. I then thought of doing the relay for Life march, to show her our support, our love and our solidarity in this time of illness, that is affecting all of us. I spoke to the staff members of the infirmary and to my colleagues, who were delighted with the idea, and joined in without hesitation.

On June 5, 2015, the evening for the Relay for Life was a memorable moment for us. For a first experience, it was an unforgettable evening and night. I say evening and night, because we walked all night to show that cancer never sleeps.

Show of heart and fraternity: how emotional to see all these people who came to support our Director: Sisters, friends, partners and children. We constituted a beautiful large family, all united for a same cause, that of giving energy and love to a person in need.

Finally, as leader of our team “Loulous’ girls,” I am proud and happy about the lived experience that strenghtened the bonds of friendship among us and you, dear Daughters of Jesus.
