As part of European Heritage Days, the Vaylats Convent in France opened its doors to the public on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
European Heritage Days

This is an annual cultural event that allows the general public to visit monuments, museums, castles, gardens, and public or private buildings—which are usually closed or difficult to access—for free or at a reduced rate.
At the Vaylats Convent

Throughout the day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors were able to discover or rediscover this historic site through the guided tours offered. The morning also featured a visit from the Réalville CARS Club and its vehicles, adding a particularly festive touch to the day.
The nuns of the Congregation were, of course, fully involved in this highlight, in a place that still bears witness today to their history, their presence, and their commitment.
A Birthday

But this Sunday was also a day of celebration and togetherness: one of our residents celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by her family and loved ones. More than thirty people gathered for the occasion to enjoy a meal prepared by our chef, in a warm and musical atmosphere.
A painting exhibition

On this special day, we also had the chance to explore the world of Christine Boudet, a watercolorist and sketchbook artist, whose work is currently on display at the Couvent.
Delicate and luminous works, in which watercolors play with transparency, color, and the poetry of the landscapes.
A beautiful convergence of heritage, art, and creativity, set against the unique backdrop of the Vaylats Convent.
A beautiful illustration of what the Vaylats Convent is today: a place of heritage, but also a living space where nuns, residents, families, visitors, and people of all generations come together.
Thank you to everyone who attended, to the volunteers, and to all those who helped make this day a delightful experience of discovery and fellowship.
