Jean-Yves Bardouil, an Associate of the Daughters of Jesus in France, gives us a brief report on the very successful opening of the exhibition of the works of Sr Lisette Mazo fj at Guidel in Brittany.
A tribute to the artist and to the Congregation
The 24th of July saw the opening of an exhibition of some of the works of Sr Lisette Mazo, a Daughter of Jesus and artist. This exhibition was in its rightful place in the Notre Dame de Pitié chapel in Guidel, which is much appreciated by the Daughters of Jesus.
As well as an art exhibition it was a tribute to two founding figures of the Congregation :
– Father Yves-Marie Coëffic, a native of Guidel and considered to be the cofounder of the Congregation with Father Pierre Noury.
– Mère Marie de Saint Charles, the fourth Superior General of the Congregation, who prayed in this chapel and obtained the healing of a Sister who was very ill.
This private viewing gave me the opportunity to remind people of this and to raise awareness of the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus of Kermaria. Many of those present were unaware of this congregation and its connection with the chapel.
A very much appreciated occasion
The 150 or so people at the viewing appreciated the works and above all that Sister Lise Mazo, the artist, was present. They also appreciated the fact that a large number of Daughters of Jesus were present.
The joy of meeting up again
Friends of the artist from her youth came to the viewing and were happy to see her again after so many years.
A buffet, prepared by the Friends of the Chapel of Our Lady of Pity, rounded off a joyful and good-humoured evening.
