It is in a festive atmosphere that the community of Moncton, Canada, welcomes their sister Venetta as she celebrated her centenary.
Together to celebrate

Together with all the Daughters of Jesus in our sector and eight members of her family, we celebrated our new centenarian, Sister Venetta Roy, on November 11, 2025. As she tells us, “I was born on November 11, 1925. What date is it today?” When we answer, “November 11, 2025,” she replies, “So I am 100 years old.” With her, three of her nephews, their spouses, a grandniece with her 7-year-old son, the gathering is pleasant. A poem composed by S. Jean LeClair recalls the services rendered by Venetta during nearly 80 years of religious life, from schoolteacher, novice mistress to Provincial.

“We all have the same mission whatever our circumstances and our apostolic work, whether we are in active ministry, incapacitated by illness or in retirement.” R.V.#14
A poem composed by Félix Leclerc, “Vieillir en beauté” (Aging Gracefully), reminds us of the importance of aging well, as our honoree has done.

Together, we shared her birthday cake before she opened her gifts and greeting cards. She told us loudly and clearly, “Thank you for the party and for all your kindness.”
“We set aside times for meeting to exchange and share, to pray and celebrate, to relax and rejoice. ” R.V.#25
Sister Venetta continues to amaze us with her ability to adapt to the different realities demanded by her advanced age. She remains serene, and when we visit her, we often meet her in the long corridors, where she is always happy to welcome us.

Congratulations for these 100 years and continue to amaze us!
