From this day on, we entered into the preparation of the discernment for the elections. In the time of prayer that introduced the day, we asked the Lord to teach us his ways, to make us know his path, and to direct us in his truth.
Introduction
“Spiritual discernment is a way for Christians to guide their lives and make choices that bring them closer to God. It is in dialogue with the Holy Spirit, in the Scriptures, in attention to the realities that surround us, that we come to hear a God who proposes, rather than imposes. Spiritual discernment appeals to the same faculties of reason and intelligence. But, in addition, “we have as protagonist the Spirit received at baptism“. (Enzo Bianchi)
Let us invoke this unpredictable Breath at this moment of our prayer by singing.
Spirit of truth, breeze of the Lord,
Spirit of freedom, pass into our hearts,
Spirit of truth, breeze of the Lord,
Spirit of freedom, pass into our hearts.
Prayer of discernment – Ps 25, 4 – 13
For you, I wait all the long day,
because of your goodness, Lord.
Remember your compassion and love, O Lord;
for they are ages old.
Remember no more the sins of my youth;
remember me only in light of your love.
“The Superior General is the highest authority in the Congregation. She is responsible for the fidelity of the Institute to the living charism of the Founders. Relying on the help of the Spirit and of her Councillors, she strives to fulfill this service of authority with serenity, courage, and patience” (Rule of Life 82.2)
Here I am,
O my God,
I come to do your will.
A reading from 1st Corinthians, 2: 12 – 15
We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit that comes from God, so that we may understand the things freely given us by God.
And we speak about them not with words taught by human wisdom, but with words taught by the Spirit, describing spiritual realities in spiritual terms.
Now the natural person does not accept what pertains to the Spirit of God, for to him it is foolishness, and he cannot understand it, because it is judged spiritually. The spiritual person, however, can judge everything but is not subject to judgment by anyone.
Notre Père … Padre Nuestro … Our Father
(in her own language)
Spirit of truth, breeze of the Lord,
Spirit of freedom, pass into our hearts,
Spirit of truth, breeze of the Lord,
Spirit of freedom, pass into our hearts.
