Last Wednesday, August 12, at the Parkland field in Riverview, all residents had the chance to experience a unique carnival.

The sisters, residents, and laypeople are having fun

Carnivals are usually held in the winter.  The activity coordinators at our residence organized a “summer carnival.”

The event took place outdoors on a beautiful, sunny day.  Various games were available for anyone who wanted to try them:  Plinko, mini-golf, Tic-Tac-Toe, and Kerplunk.  We even had a visit from a llama and an alpaca—two beautiful animals with very soft fur—who wandered among us and let us pet them.  These gentle animals would eat food right out of the residents’ hands.  They were always accompanied by their owner, who was happy to answer the residents’ questions about the animals’ lives.

An Unexpected Surprise

Another activity that was a hit with many people: at the start of the carnival, one of our support staff members, Sylvie, arrived on the grounds in her

golf cart. She was very busy driving people around the grounds, with three people on board for each trip.  Throughout the carnival, she was seen driving around the grounds because there were always people waiting for their turn.

Music and a snack to wrap things up

There was also music, and someone was in the gazebo handing out drinks and various snacks.

It was a wonderful afternoon where people were able to enjoy the fresh air, socialize with one another, and relax surrounded by nature.
