On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, here at Royal Court, Riverview, Canada, a very interesting and informative meeting took place with the Honorable Lyne Chantal Boudreau.

The Honorable Lyne Chantal Boudreau Introduces Herself

The Honorable Lyne Chantal Boudreau, Minister Responsible for Women’s and Gender Equity and Minister Responsible for Seniors, came to meet with the community here at Royal Court and Canterbury Hall.   She shared with us that the government is honored by the mandate entrusted to them by the citizens of this province to realize a vision shared by so many New Brunswickers.

The reason for her visit

She had expressed a desire to come meet with us; we gladly accepted and set a date for our meeting.  The reason for her visit was to share with us three (3) of the many issues and topics that fall within her mandate :   

• Health—Home Care and Long-Term Care
• Economic Development – Addressing labor needs
• Violence Against Women

She began our meeting by introducing herself: although she is a trained teacher, she always felt the need to go further and enter politics at some point in her life.

While browsing her website, I noticed that she had a motto that read, “Don’t talk about us without us, but with us,” which reflects her desire to build a more inclusive, just, and equitable society.

Question time

The Minister asked if we had any questions or concerns regarding any of the topics she had discussed. Our answer, of course, was yes!

We spent over an hour with her, sharing our concerns and questions about caring for the elderly, violence against women, and, above all, training for those who wish to work with seniors.

A Fruitful Meeting

I believe this meeting with the Honorable Minister Boudreau was fruitful for all of us and for her as well. We were able to voice our concerns, questions, and fears about the future of older adults and women. It was almost a relief to be able to share what we’ve experienced and seen with our own eyes. For her part, she left with some of the information she was seeking. 

She even offered to return in three or four months to update us on the progress made in her work since our meeting. We all agreed that this was a very good idea.

All in all, it was a meeting that proved beneficial for all parties involved.
