On 21 June 2026, preparations are in full swing in Vaylats France for a fun-filled day in aid of the Convent’s Solidarity Fund.
A much-anticipated day
As soon as the event was announced, the posters that went up sparked enthusiasm among both regulars and new visitors.

Beyond its festive atmosphere, this day had one key aim: to support the Couvent Solidarity Fund, managed by the Jean Liausu Association. A wonderful way to combine a sense of community with generosity.
Meticulous preparation
In the days leading up to the event, staff and volunteers sprang into action. From 17 June, the bread oven was fired up. Items for the car boot sale were catalogued and volunteers were recruited to set up and run the stalls. Staff and members of the Jean Liausu Association prepared menus, tables and marquees.
As for the sisters, who were ever-present, they welcomed visitors warmly, answered questions, shared the history of the convent and offered a moment of listening and fellowship.

A wonderful turnout despite the sweltering heat
The heatwave and its ‘heat dome’ were the defining features of this year’s event. Early in the morning, the convent was bustling with people… and many left with their arms full and beaming smiles on their faces.
Throughout the day, there were countless reunions. Many newcomers were discovering the house, the chapel, its history and the sisters’ way of life. What joy, what conversation, what support, what mutual help.

A wonderful success in the spirit of solidarity
Here is a message from Inès, head of the sales department:
“What a lovely day for this Bread Festival!
Despite the heat, this year’s event was a great success thanks to the dedication and courage of our volunteers and the teams at the Couvent de Vaylats. The day will enable us to donate nearly 6,000 euros to the Jean Liausu Association’s Solidarity Fund.

A huge thank you to each and every one of you. Without your dedication, none of this would be possible. We look forward to seeing you again next year for another event!”
